At Umphrey Dobermans, we take genetic health and responsible breeding seriously. Every puppy we produce comes from fully health-tested parents, and we stand behind the well-being of our dogs with clear, transparent guarantees.
Comprehensive Health Testing
All of our breeding dogs are DNA tested for the following hereditary conditions:

CNM (Centronuclear Myopathy)

DM (Degenerative Myelopathy)

EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse)

PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy)
Additionally, our dogs undergo OFA certifications for:

Hips & Elbows (to prevent dysplasia)

Eyes (annual CERF exams)

Heart (cardiologist-cleared)
This rigorous testing ensures we breed only the healthiest, genetically sound Dobermans.
Puppy Health Guarantee
30-Day General Health Guarantee
Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of delivery. You must visit your veterinarian within 30 days for a wellness check. If a life-threatening congenital defect is found within this period, please contact us immediately with veterinary documentation.
Lifetime Guarantee Against Hereditary Disorders
We guarantee your puppy for life against the following genetic conditions:

Hip/Elbow Dysplasia (must be confirmed by OFA before 26 months)

Congenital Eye Defects (must be diagnosed by a veterinary ophthalmologist before 26 months)
-
CNM, DM, or EIC (lifetime coverage with DNA confirmation)
If any of these conditions are confirmed, we will apply your full purchase price (minus shipping, if applicable) toward another puppy.
Conditions That Void the Guarantee
The guarantee is null and void if the dog is:

Malnourished, underfed, or obese

Over-exercised during growth stages

Abused, injured, or improperly cared for

Bred without our knowledge
-
Transferred to a new owner
-
Not examined by a vet within the first 30 days
Claim Process
If a genetic condition is suspected:

Two independent veterinarians must provide written diagnosis.

Microchip verification is required to confirm identity.

OFA or specialist reports must be submitted for dysplasia/eye claims.

We reserve the right to request additional testing if needed.
Note: This guarantee covers replacement only—vet bills and other expenses are the owner’s responsibility.

Our Lifetime Commitment to Our Dogs
We understand that life can bring unexpected challenges. If you can no longer care for your Umphrey Doberman at any point in their life, we will take them back—no questions asked. Please never surrender your dog to a shelter. We will ensure they are safely rehomed.
